During its budget meetings the Council looked carefully at its requirements for 2019/20 and its anticipated income to the end of the financial year.
Prior to last year’s budget the Council had maintained the precept for Band D properties at the same amount for 3 years.
For 2018/19 there was a modest increase to ensure continuation of current services offered and this year they agreed that, due to continuing rising costs against a reduced income, it is necessary to increase the precept for this year.
The Mayor, Cllr Pat Kynaston said “As always, the Council will work to ensure best value by reducing costs where possible. The Council is committed to ensuring that they maintain the visible benefits to the residents through its community grants programme and continued support for other local amenities.”
The Council will formally request to Cheshire West and Chester Council a precept of £238,124 for 2019/20. The rate for homeowners will increase by 4.9%, which will result in an annual increased cost of £1.92 for Band D properties.
