Following three years of maintaining the charge for Band D properties at the same amount and working to reduce costs, the Council has looked carefully at the budget expenditure for 2018/19 against income. The imminent loss of the Council Tax Reduction grant, which has been received since 2013, combined with rising costs of goods and services has led the Council review its policy.
In order to maintain the services it currently offers the Council agreed that they needed to increase the precept request this year. At the same time it will continue to work to reduce costs.
The Council will formally request to Cheshire West and Chester Council a net precept of £223,530 for its budgeting requirements for the year 2018/19.
The rate for homeowners will increase by 3.9%, which will result in an annual increased cost of £1.47 for Band D properties.
