Neston Town Council is delighted that the Neston Neighbourhood Plan received a majority yes vote in the referendum. Of the 3469 people voting , 2930 voted in favour of the neighbourhood plan, a majority of 2455.

In 2012 the Town Council took the decision to prepare a Neighbourhood Plan and established a Community Steering Group to undertake the task. The Community Steering Group has worked tirelessly over the last four years to deliver a plan that represents the views and aspirations of the local community.

The Neston Neighbourhood Plan will now be  formally ‘made’ by Cheshire West and Chester Council  and will become part of the statutory development plan for the Neston area and will be used alongside the Local Plan as a basis for making decisions on planning applications.

Councillor James Wilkie said “This represents the successful culmination of four years work by the Town Council and the Community Steering Group. On behalf of the Town Council I would like to thank the members of the Community Steering Group, members of the Task and Finish Groups, and our planning consultants Cass Associates. Without their considerable efforts it would not have been possible to produce this plan. I now look forward to Cheshire West and Chester Council taking full account of the Neighbourhood Plan when determining planning applications.”
