At the Annual Meeting of the Council on 16th May Cllr Pat Kynaston, although absent due to business, was elected as Chairman of Neston Town Council.
Cllr Kynaston later said ‘To be elected by your fellow councillors to be Chairman is a privilege and I was delighted to accept the position. While maintaining my commitment to Council business as Chairman, I will also be representing Neston Town Council at local and area functions. I am looking forward to fulfilling these duties to the best of my ability.’
The title of Mayor can be chosen by the Council’s Chairman in accordance with Local Government Act 1972 s245 (6). Councillor Kynaston was happy to take the title.
Cllr Kynaston has lived in the Neston area all her life, having been born in Parkgate, and moved to Little Neston when she married her husband, Robert.
She previously worked in the TSB Bank when it was still a saving bank, and after 20 years she left to set up her own company offering small conference planning, building up to offering group leisure tours for organisations and social groups in the Cheshire area.
Cllr Kynaston has now decided to retire so that she can have more time for her interests, such as the WEA (Workers Educational Association).
At the meeting Cllr Dave Carter was elected as Deputy Mayor and said ‘I am delighted to serve as Deputy Town Mayor for Neston and look forward to working with the Mayor, the Councillors and the Council.’
