Little Actors Theatre Company

Press Release January 2022

Little Actors Theatre has been awarded a Creative Development Grant, part of the Reopening and Recovery programme funded by the Government’s Additional Restrictions Grant to Cheshire West and Chester Council.  The grant is designed to bring life back to the High Street through creative arts activities.

Little Actors is offering a series of theatre workshops for children aged 8-18, leading to filming the work.  The project will be led by professional actors and is FREE.  The aim is to root the material in local history and enable the participants to create their own work linked to local knowledge around the High Street, Town Hall and Market Square.

The workshops will be Saturdays 2 – 4 p.m. from 15th January.  The filming day is Sunday 13th March by a local professional film maker.

Press Release 19 November 2021

InterACT Youth Theatre is currently recruiting young people to join this performance-focussed group in the Neston area. Do you know a young person aged 12-18 with a creative passion for theatre?  Then InterACT Youth Theatre is the perfect place for them! IYT has been based in Neston for over 15 years and led by professional actors. This company participates in the Leverhulme Drama Festival and National Theatre Connections, a nationwide celebration of new writing for young people. For those aged 13 and above there are parts available in this year’s NT Connections play which is called ‘Variations’ by Katie Hims and will be performed on the 27th March 2022 at a local venue.

National Theatre Connections is one of the UK’s largest celebrations of youth theatre.  Plays are commissioned for and about young people, from some of the best contemporary playwrights, and performed by schools and youth theatres all over the UK and Ireland.  This includes a transfer to a professional venue, in our case The Lowry.

Participation in the arts improves health, wellbeing and confidence, and teaches young people an array of transferrable skills.  New members are welcome: we meet Wednesdays 5 – 7 p.m. at Neston Community and Youth Centre.  We offer 50% discounts for low-income families and free places for young people from unwaged families.

Press Release November 2021 Little Actors Theatre Company is proud to present a crowdfunding project in conjunction with Spacehive and Cheshire West and Chester Council.  We would welcome your support.
Community Christmas Show in the Rural area of Neston
Everyone is welcome to join in this project free of charge: families, couples, individuals, young and not so young!  You just have to want to get involved with the community and meet new people! No experience is necessary and participants can take up any role; actors, stage managers, wardrobe supervisors, props makers, lighting, sound designers/operators, designers etc. The community cast will be guided by experienced and skilled theatre professionals to put on a show for Christmas 2022.
The project will be based and performed in the Neston area but all residents in Cheshire West can join. Culminating in a local performance with transfer to the Storyhouse in Chester. We want to get as much of the community involved as we can in local venues.
After the COVID-19 pandemic this collaborative project will encourage the community to get back together with a shared aim, and encourage those who have been socially isolated to socialise again. Participants will benefit from the input of professionals whilst building new friendships and learning new skills.
We will deliver weekly rehearsals over three school terms, starting in January and running for 36 – 38 weeks.  With a transfer to the Storyhouse our participants can experience a professional venue from an ‘inside’ perspective, plus free tickets for the audience.
We have been based in Neston and running for over 15 years and so have a wealth of experience in delivering these types of projects.

As a charity Little Actors has an access for all policy so low income families are eligible for 50% scholarships and in some cases free places where funding allows.  Contact LATC for details.
Survival – Funding
Little Actors has survived this far through the pandemic because of funding from The Arts Council, Neston Town Council, CWaC, Cllr Louise Gittins, Cheshire Community Foundation and other grant and donations from the Masons and Enritec.  We are so grateful for the support so far but if we are to survive beyond the new year we need to raise more funding to sustain our charity through to the end of the pandemic.  Any support, personal or business would be most welcome.
