PRESS RELEASE FEBRUARY 2021
Little Actors Theatre has moved back online for the duration of this lockdown. Our regular students will attend their workshops on Zoom on a Saturday morning. Plus. we are able to offer this out to the wider community. We can offer:
9.30 am – 10.10 am DramaTots (pre-school children and their parents/carers) – drama, singing and dance led by West End actor Carly Thoms
10.15 am-12.15 pm – Theatre Club – drama and musical theatre for 5-11s .
This group will work on a lockdown-specific project and will create a piece of work for digital presentation at the end of the lockdown. Led by professional actor Fern Evans.
These workshops will be free to unwaged families and we are offering an introductory offer to new students who join us on Zoom. It is a great opportunity to work with professional actors and to give the children a social outlet during lockdown.
We are also able to offer places on our InterACT Youth Theatre which is on Wednesdays 5-7 pm (for ages 12+). This group is creating work to be filmed and published.
During the last long lockdown we created lots of work including the publication of a creative writing book (available on Amazon or at Old Oaks Farm)
Little Actors Theatre has been selected by Aviva to be part of this year’s Aviva Community Fund. All funds raised from public and employee donations will help support the community theatre work in Neston.
Little Actors offers professionally led performing arts activities for children and young people, plus the over 50s. Free places are available to children eligible for free school meals and 50% discounts for low income families. Participation in the arts is proven to improve health and well being and to reduce social isolation and loneliness. This is needed now more than ever.
Please use this link to support Little Actors and spread the word.
As a charity Little Actors has an access for all policy so low income families are eligible for 50% scholarships and in some cases free places where funding allows. Contact LATC for details.
Survival – Funding
Little Actors has survived this far through the pandemic because of funding from The Arts Council, Neston Town Council, CWaC, Cllr Louise Gittins, Cheshire Community Foundation and other grant and donations from the Masons and Enritec. We are so grateful for the support so far but if we are to survive beyond the new year we need to raise more funding to sustain our charity through to the end of the pandemic. Any support, personal or business would be most welcome.
Download the Zoom app on your device and then send us an email ([email protected]) and we will add you to the invitation groups to the live streamed workshops. At the moment they are a bit ad hoc as our free lance actors are having to find other work but we will be creating a more regular schedule ASAP. Workshops so far include DramaTots, movement and fitness and youth theatre.
Everyone is most welcome and all of these activities are FREE to join in. Keeping well is so important at this time, and this includes your health and well-being and making sure your don’t feel isolated or lonely – so come and join us from the comfort of your own home. Details from [email protected] or call Samantha on 0151 336 4302.
KEEP WELL AND SAFE FROM ALL OF US AT LITTLE ACTORS
Little Actors has its own venue, Neston Theatre Arts, off Brook Street. The venue is equipped to create a black box studio theatre and rehearsal and dance studios. Volunteers would be most welcome to help behind the scenes so if you don’t fancy acting then come and help with costumes, props, sound, lighting, producing and fundraising etc. We look forward to welcoming new members.
