Situated on the Dee side of the Wirral Peninsula, midway between the cities of Chester and Liverpool and close to North Wales, it has many features of interest for visitors.

This friendly historic market town, with weekly Friday market, has free parking and bus and train links. The surrounding villages are linked by the Wirral Country Park, the first of its kind in the country, which provides a focus for many local walks and cycle rides. These pass through beautiful rural settings and along the coastline with views of the Welsh hills and the Dee salt marsh, which attracts birds and birdwatchers.

For the less energetic a stroll along the promenade at Parkgate gives the opportunity to sample the nationally famous homemade ice cream whilst taking in the views over the estuary. Another national treasure in the area is Ness Gardens.

The history of the Neston area can be traced to pre Viking times and at one stage in 18th Century, it was the main port serving Ireland, France and Spain prior to Liverpool being established. A plethora of building styles in the town centre reflects the expansion of the town in this era and characters like Lady Hamilton and Grenfell of Labrador were born here. With ancient traditions (Ladies Day), summer festival, good eating and fine hostelries the town is attractive to visitors from far and wide.
