Councillor Janet Griffiths is awarded a Cheshire Rural Women’s Award 2013

Neston Town Council is pleased to announce that Councillor Janet Griffiths was presented with a Cheshire Rural Women’s Award 2013 at a ceremony at Cheshire Fire and Rescue HQ, Winsford on Tuesday 15 October.

One of Janet’s major achievements was the setting up of a petition for the formation of the town council. Janet has been a member of Neston Town Council since its inception in 2009. As well as being the Chair of Society & Culture Committee and Deputy Mayor, Janet updates council notice boards and carries out litter picks for the council.

Currently, Janet is a Heritage Walk guide in Neston. She has been a member of Neston Civic Society for over 15yrs and now serves as both the Secretary and Treasurer. She has been instrumental in entering Neston in the best kept village competition and can regularly be seen maintaining the floral displays in the town centre.

Although now retired, Janet taught swimming in Neston Recreation Centre for over 40 years. Many people will know Janet in Neston as she is regularly seen cycling around the town.

Improvement works to the Donkey Stand, Parkgate are due to commence on Monday 4th November through to Friday 29th November (weather permitting).
