New Mayor for Neston Town Council

At the Town Council’s Annual Meeting on May 17th Cllr Martin Barker was elected as Neston Town Council’s new Mayor.

Cllr Barker takes over from Cllr David Clark. Cllr Pat Hughes was elected as Deputy Mayor.

Cllr Barker gave thanks to the former Chairmen Cllrs Moira Andrews and David Clark for their part in the establishment of the Council and for its current high level of achievement in such a short space of time. This has been acknowledged by the National Association of Local Councils.

Cllr Barker said “I will endeavour to maintain this standard in the interests of the local residents along with your Council representatives in the Neston area”.

At its meeting the Council agreed to adopt a new committee structure, designed to balance workloads and to meet the challenges the council is likely to face in its next four year cycle, when the Localism Bill comes into effect. It was agreed that going forward, the four committees will be; the Finance and Economic Development, Society and Culture, Planning and Environment, Assets and Town Centre Services. Future Council and Committee meetings will take place on a six-weekly cycle, the next Full Council meeting is scheduled for the 28 June 2011 at the NC&YC at 6.30pm.
