Neston Library is here for the whole community and is situated on Parkgate Road, just down from The Cross.

Neston is a vibrant welcoming library with friendly helpful staff and a wide variety of services ranging from brilliant books for all ages and tastes, to free computer access, with IT buddies on hand to help. We hold regular events including author talks, poetry evenings, reading groups, film showings and live music as well as, storytimes, rhymetimes and a teen reading group.

World Book DayThe library staff also have a penchant for dressing up, particularly for World Book Day which we celebrate in style every year with the local schools.

We have a well-stocked Multimedia section with DVDs, games, CDs and audio books. We have a lot of material on local and family history relating to the Neston area as well as a subscription to Ancestry.com, which you can use for free. We also run events and taster sessions relating to local and family history on local and family history relating to the Neston area as well as a subscription to Ancestry.com, which you can use for free. The Friends of Neston Library are a very active group who are involved in many activities atthe library. The Friends meet monthly over coffee and biscuits and always welcome new members. One of the activities this year has been tending the Sensory Garden for which they successfully received funding from Cheshire Year of Gardens. 2007 was very special for the library as we celebrated our Centenary with a year long programme of events culminating in our birthday celebrations on the 6th December. Neston is a Carnegie Library and is now the only one remaining in Cheshire. Andrew Carnegie 'the patron saint of libraries' donated £1200 to Neston Urban District Council to build the library. The land was given by the Russells of Vine House, Parkgate Road. Things have changed a lot since 1907 though! Why not come in and see! You are also welcome to look at the material that we collected last year and on the history of the library.

To commemorate our milestone the Friends were successful in securing funding to produce a special mosaic, which symbolises Neston over the last 100 years. The mosaic was created by local artists Verity Blakeman, Eileen Miller and Russell Kirk from ideas created in community workshops at the library during October 2007. The mosaic was unveiled on the 6th December 2007 with the help of pupils from Neston Primary School and has recently been installed on a permanent brick plinth. The project was sponsored by Cheshire County Council Cultural Services, Neston Market Town Initiative and NWDA, URENCO at Capenhurst, Arriva Trains Wales, Town Building Materials and Community Champions Fund.

Come in and see what we're doing at your library. You will be assured a warm welcome!
