C.A.N. Group
(Community Activities in Neston)CAN

C.A.N. (Community Activities in Neston) Group started off as a voluntary group in 2005, set up by Neston mums to widen access to artistic, cultural and social activities in the CH64 area. Our overall aim is to bring children and their families together in an informal, fun atmosphere to learn new skills and make new friends. Unlike conventional youth clubs, CAN activities are aimed at families, not just children.

With the help of EPNAVCO (Ellesmere Port and Neston Association of Community and Voluntary Organisations), and the Cheshire and Warrington Social Enterprise Partnership, CAN became a Company Limited by Guarantee in February 2008. With funding from the Fair Share Trust and Cheshire Active Communities Fund, CAN now employs two project managers and is soon to set up an office in the former Jumping Jacks premises, along with other non-profit and community organizations.

Volunteers will always be the backbone of CAN group. If you could help, or have any expertise that would benefit CAN, we would welcome any input. If you have any queries, ideas, contacts or would like to get more involved with CAN, please speak to Eileen Miller or Zaria Shreef by phoning 0151 336 8784. Any suggestions for future activities will be very welcome.

A Guideline Booklet, laying out the group's policies and aims is available on request.

We normally deliver two ten week programmes a year, April-July and Oct - Feb and give flyers out to all primary schools in the ch64 area, two weeks before so parents can book on a first come first served basis. This is the only fair way of giving everyone the opportunity in the area.

CAN organizes other events in the CH64 area.
